About D MET

D MET design, LLC is an interdisciplinary design studio located in Midtown Detroit. We're located on the ground floor of the Park-Shelton at 15 E. Kirby, Suite 103.

Founded by husband and wife, Joel T. Schmidt and Elizabeth A. Skrisson, D MET design is committed to building a better and more beautiful Detroit.

Metropolitanism. It's the MET in D MET.

At D MET design, we confront the adverse conditions of metropolitan growth by designing inclusive, community centric spaces in under-served locations.

Our approach to Architecture is threefold: 1) we investigate and embrace the characteristics of locality – from the social and cultural to the emotive and mnemonic origins of place; 2) we re-position technical, and monetary constraints inherent to Architecture as a catalyst of design; and, 3) we seek to understand and engage the persons and ideas behind the work.

At D MET design, we create original solutions that come from scrutinizing the circumstances of the Architectural problem. The by-product is compelling design that is meticulously conceived.
